List of Services:
Over the years, we have noted that each customer varies in their existing in-house abilities to develop
control systems. Some clients are fully staffed to handle all of their electrical controls needs and only on occasion have
an overflow need. Others have no in-house talent in this field and we support them in every facet of development of their
control system, from concept through turn-key start-up and acceptance testing. Accordingly, we offer each of our services
individually or combined as a package, in order to support you in the area of your immediate need.
The following represents a list of services which we are able to provide.
? System Conceptualization
? Specification Development
? Project Management
? Engineering/Design
? As-Built Documentation
? Fabrication and Assembly
? Programming
? System Start-up and Debug
? Inspection and Testing
? Product Support and Maintenance

? Maintenance Training
Please note that all of the services listed above can be provided from any location, may it be from our
office in Milford Connecticut or an office specified by our client anywhere in the United States or abroad. We have had the
pleasure of assisting clients in Australia, Germany, Taiwan, England and more. We would enjoy the possibility of assisting
your organization no matter where it may take us on the globe.
System Conceptualization
For clients needing assistance in defining the operational requirements for their control system, R-Squared
Systems offers the ability to participate in discussions which conceptualize part of, or the entire electrical control system.
We continually keep apprised of the state of the art of control components available and can quickly associate
a required control function with specific product(s). In many cases we have been able to add desirable functionality to a
system with minimal or no additional cost, by suggesting alternative control products or by maximizing the features of existing
control components.
Specification Development
Once the concept for the control system is complete, it is sometimes required by our clients to have a complete
set of design and/or functional specifications developed in order to go out for competitive bidding on sub-systems or specialized
portions of the control system.
In these cases, R-Squared Systems is able to assist in the generation of documentation which specifies the
requirements of the overall control system. In these write-ups we assist in identifying the minimum standards for performance,
quality and function. We also assist in identifying the appropriate governing agencies such as; NEC, NEMA, JIC, CSA, UL, NFPA,
etc... as well as any local municipal codes which may apply.
Project Management
For companies that either do not have technical project management in-house, or require temporary assistance
during peak periods, R-Squared Systems is pleased to offer services in project management.
As a project manager, we are able to assist clients in maintaining project budgets and schedules in accordance
with their established milestones. We are able to assist in writing bid specifications for the selection of contractors and
in the day by day monitoring of the tasks assigned to contractors. We are able to act as liaison between our client and their
customer or any other associated organization such as architects, contractors, vendors, etc..
Daily activities are logged and reported on a schedule and in a format established by our client.
Engineering/Design
R-Squared Systems offers complete services in industrial controls engineering and design. We are experienced
in developing controls for electro-mechanical, electro-hydraulic, electro-pneumatic powered equipment as well as for equipment
that are all electrical (control and power).
Once a control system concept is complete and the sequence of operation is understood, R-Squared Systems
is able to proceed in selecting the necessary control components and interface hardware required to provide the desired equipment
functionality.

Documentation
R-Squared Systems offers a variety of support documentation which enhance the customers understanding and
appreciation of the equipment and control system. Some of the highlights of the documentation packages include:
*Overall System Description: Describes the overall functional mission of the system.
*Sequence of Operation: A step by step sequence of equipment events that occur immediately after an operator
interaction or signal interfaces with other automated systems.
*PLC Program Documentation: Ladder diagram showing program elements. Additional program cross reference,
status, usage reports maximizing the capabilities of the PLC programming software.
*Electrical Schematics: Representing the ?as-built? condition of the system control components and their
interface wiring.
*Equipment Layouts: Various views of the overall system and/or selected views of specific control areas
identifying the locations of all control devices in the system.
*Control Panel Layouts: Motor Control Panel, Operator Control Panel, Control Stations, etc.. showing all
components installed, identified and laid out to reflect the ?as-built? condition of the panels.
*Parts Lists: An itemized listing of all control components and their interface hardware. The parts list
are detailed to show the part number, quantity used, description, schematic designation and manufacturers name, as well as
any additional information required by our client.
*Operators Manual: A selection of various text and drawings, listed above, which illustrate the functions
required to be performed by the operator. A typical Operators Manual might include:
Overall System Description
Sequence of Operation
Equipment Layout Drawings
Control Panel Layout Drawings
*Maintenance Manual: In addition to some of the documents contained in the Operator?s Manual the Maintenance
Manual might include the following:
Manufacturers Catalog Cuts
Electrical Schematics
Pneumatic/Hydraulic Schematics
PLC Programming Documentation
Parts Lists
Troubleshooting charts
Fabrication and Assembly
Once a design is complete and approved, our staff are able to fabricate the control panels and stations
required by the design.
Our installation crew are available to supervise the installation of the control system, either by outside
contractors, or by our own staff. We offer the ability to assemble equipment in our shop and perform the start-up/debug tasks
under a controlled environment, or we can perform these tasks on the customers site.
Programming
R-Squared Systems offers the ability to program all PLC?s and associated control system components. We have
over twenty years of experience integrating control systems which require the use of specialized programming software and
familiarity with computer programming.
Our familiarity with the instruction sets of most PLC?s enables us to maximize the control system components
in order to provide the most efficient functionality of the equipment being controlled. During the course of developing our
programs, we are fully aware of the benefits of properly organizing and documenting the program. As a result, we think through
the organization of our programs prior to writing a single element of code. We document our code with clear and concise language
which are representative of the associated control function.
We understand that the best program for an application does not necessarily mean the most complex use of
the PLC instruction set. To us, the best program is one that performs the desired functionality and can be easily read and
understood not just by the programmer, but by those individuals who will be responsible for maintaining the system for the
years to come.
System Start-Up and Debug
Once the installation phase of a project is complete we are able to go on site and inspect the installed
system and check/correct any problems with the wiring or mounting of the control devices. Upon completion of these preliminary
checks we ensure that all safety procedures are in place prior to applying power.
At that time, we then apply the required electrical power to the system and begin our start-up debugging
of the wiring. All I/O are checked for proper functionality and adjustment prior to the implementation of the program.
Once a system is checked out and verified that it is assembled, wired and adjusted in accordance with the
latest revision of the electrical schematics, the program is downloaded into the PLC and associated control
devices. The system is then run and the programmed debugged to achieve full functionality in accordance
with the approved sequence of operation.
Inspection and Testing
Upon completion of the start-up/debug phase, the system is put through an endurance check. The system is
run and checked for full compliance with the design specifications.
We are able to assist our clients in participating in the performance of acceptance testing and inspection,
either by their personnel or the personnel of their customer.
Product Support and Maintenance
Once a system has been accepted and turned over to the end user, we continue to support our systems by providing
troubleshooting assistance either over the telephone, or by traveling to the site. In most cases problems are able to be resolved
over the telephone.
As a result of the network of suppliers that we have available to us, we are able to provide replacement
parts on a short turn around basis and at competitive prices.
If a client does not have the necessary technical staff to perform the functions required to maintain the
system, R-Squared Systems would be pleased to review each case to determine the best solution for our clients. In some cases,
logistics prevent us from being the most practical candidates to perform these functions. In these cases, we assist our clients
by reviewing the qualifications of the more local companies which are better situated to respond to these needs. If a local
company is not available, or does not possess the qualifications to perform the maintenance functions, we are able to schedule
and perform the required maintenance tasks identified to minimize down time of the equipment.
We are also available to respond to emergency calls, as required.
